Terrapins Earn 3-Seed in ACC Tourney

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland field hockey team earned the No. 3 seed in this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament and will face the No. 6 seed, Duke, Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Chapel Hill, N.C. in quarterfinal action.

The Terps-Blue Devils game will be shown live online for free on ESPN3, ACC Digital Network and the Watch ESPN mobile app. GameTracker live stats will also be available. For links to watch, log on to the ACC Field Hockey Championship home page at http://theacc.co/FHChamp.

The winner of the Maryland-Duke game will take on second-seeded Virginia Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the semifinals. The championship game will be played Sunday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.

In their regular season matchup, the Terps (14-4) beat the Blue Devils (7-10), 2-0 on Oct. 6 in College Park. Juniors Jill Witmer and Ali McEvoy scored in the win, as the Terrapins' defense held Duke to just five shots.

ACC fans will be able to watch all six games of the championship. The semifinals on Friday and the final on Sunday will be broadcast on FOX Sports South, FOX Sports Florida, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, and NESN in the ACC footprint.

The entire tournament will be played at top-seeded North Carolina's Francis E. Henry Stadium. Single-day tickets are available for $5, and all-weekend tickets are $10. Students from an ACC school can enter for free with valid student identification.

The Terrapins have won nine ACC Championships, all under head coach Missy Meharg, including the 2009, 2010 and 2011 crowns.
