Terps Announce 2012-13 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head gymnastics coach Brett Nelligan announced Wednesday the 2012-13 schedule, which features five home meets and the season-opening Red & Black Intrasquad on Friday, Dec. 7.

The Terps' schedule is highlighted by meets against two of the top ranked teams in the nation in Auburn and West Virginia.

Maryland faces the defending East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) champion Mountaineers twice: at home on Feb. 17 and in Morgantown, W. Va., on March 15. The Mountaineers finished the 2012 campaign ranked No. 21. The Terps travels to Auburn to take on the Tigers on March 1. The SEC power finished last season ranked No. 15 in the nation.

The Terps open the season on Jan. 11 at NC State followed by a trip to Pittsburgh for a tri-meet with the Panthers, Cornell and Temple on Jan. 19.

After two weekends on the road, the Terps open their home slate when North Carolina visits on Jan. 26. The Tar Heels play host to Maryland just a week later in Chapel Hill (Feb. 2).

After returning from North Carolina, the Terps have a three-meet homestand beginning with a quad-meet against NC State, North Carolina and Towson at Comcast Center on the Feb. 8.

The following weekend Maryland welcomes Rutgers and West Virginia (Feb. 17) to College Park and closes the homestand with a quad-meet against Bridgeport, George Washington and Pittsburgh (Feb. 22).

After its matchup at Auburn (Mar. 1), Maryland closes its home schedule on March 10 against Central Michigan and Yale.

Maryland closes the regular season at West Virginia (Mar. 15) and at George Washington (Mar. 17) in a tri-meet with Towson.

The EAGL Championships are March 23 and will be hosted by North Carolina. NCAA competition begins Saturday, April 6 with the NCAA Regionals and concludes with the NCAA Championships on April 19.
