COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Eight outstanding alumni will be inducted into the Class of 2012 University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday evening at a ceremony at Riggs Alumni Center.

Men's basketball player Juan Dixon, former coaches Tom Bradley (baseball) and Cindy Timchal (women's lacrosse), football player Paul Vellano, field hockey player Carla Tagliente and women's lacrosse players Jen Adams and Sarah Forbes will be inducted. Longtime M Club fundraiser Leonard Rodman will be inducted for meritorious service.

In addition, Terrapin football alumnus Tim Brant will receive the M Club's Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. Brant, a former linebacker at Maryland, has continued to be involved in collegiate athletics as the sports director at WJLA-TV in Washington and as a play-by-play announcer for the ACC Network.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $85 each, with tables for 10 people available for $800. Tickets can be purchased from the `M' Club office at 301-314-2619.

Founded in 1982 by the M Club and developed as a collaborative effort with the Athletics Department, the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame pays tribute to those superior Terrapin athletes, coaches and administrators who have made major contributions to the honor and fame of the University of Maryland, and have continued to demonstrate the positive values learned through competing in intercollegiate sports. Induction into the Hall of Fame represents the highest athletic honor the university can bestow.

Below are bio information of each new Hall of Fame member:

Jen Adams (Women's Lacrosse, Class of '01)
Three-time national player of the year and was the first women's recipient of the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2001... Set every scoring record - season and career at Maryland - finishing with 267 goals, 178 assists and 445 points... Set single-season marks for goals, assists and points as a junior, then broke her own marks as a senior (81 goals, 55 assists, 136 points)... Academic All-American as a senior... Won Honda/Broderick Award for women's lacrosse in 2000 and 2001.

TOM BRADLEY (Baseball, Class of '72)
Third-team All-America pitcher for the Terrapins as a senior... All-Atlantic Coast Conference pick in 1967 and 1968... His 1.32 earned-run average as a senior is still an ACC record... Had 10.7 strikeouts per nine innings that year and was part of a staff which led the nation with a 0.95 ERA that year... Played seven seasons in the major leagues after Maryland... Had two 15-win seasons for the White Sox... Head coach of the Terrapins for 10 seasons, compiling a record of 243-306-5 between 1991 and 2000.

JUAN DIXON (Men's Basketball, Class of '02)
Maryland's all-time leading scorer with 2,269 points... Led the Terrapins to their 2002 NCAA national championship in his senior season... Consensus first team All-American in 2002... Also winner of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award... Named Most Outstanding Player in the 2002 NCAA Tournament... ACC men's basketball player of the year and ACC male athlete of the year in 2002... Third team All-American in 2001... Three-time first team All-ACC player... One of only eight Terps selected to the ACC's 50th Anniversary Team... School-record holder in career 3-pointers... Picked 17th overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2002 NBA Draft... Played in parts of nine seasons in the NBA for Washington, Portland, Toronto and Detroit.

Sarah Forbes (Women's Lacrosse, Class of `97)
Three-time All-American and four-year starter for the Terrapins... A member of three national championship teams and one national runner-up squad at Maryland in her four seasons... National Offensive Player of the Year as a senior and ACC Female Athlete of the Year... Scored a team-high 58 goals in 1997 to lead the Terps to the NCAA title... Selected to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 1996 and 1997.

LEONARD RODMAN (Meritorious Service, Class of `43)
Boxer for Maryland in the early 1940s... As a heavyweight, was invited to participate in the NCAA Tournament in 1941... Graduated from the School of Pharmacy in 1943... Started a golf tournament that quickly became an annual fund-raising event for the 'M' Club... Event has raised more than $1.5 million since its start in 1974..

Carla Tagliente (Field Hockey, Class of '01)
Three-time first team All-American in field hockey (1998-'99-2000) after earning third team honors as a freshman... Two-time finalist for the Honda/Broderick Award in field hockey... Member of 1999 NCAA championship team... Second all-time at Maryland in career points (187), third in goals (73)... Three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American... Graduated summa cum laude in 2001 with a degree in finance and marketing.

Cindy Timchal (Women's Lacrosse Head Coach, 1991-2006)
Won eight NCAA national championships as head coach at Maryland, including seven straight (1992, 1995-2001)... Went 260-46 at Maryland, winning 85 percent of her games... Winningest coach in NCAA women's lacrosse history, with a 412-108 career record in 30 seasons through 2012... National Coach of the Year in 1999 and Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year four times... Recognized as head coach of NCAA's 25th Anniversary Team in 2006... Had 20 of her former players as head or assistant coaches in 2012.

PAUL VELLANO (Football, Class of '73)
First team All-America defensive lineman in 1973 by the American Football Coaches Association... Second-team pick by United Press International... Honorable mention All-American as a junior in 1972... Two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team selection... Lettered three times as a Terrapin... ACC Lineman of the Week after an 18-tackle performance, including 14 solos, in a game vs. Syracuse as a junior... Had a 23-tackle game vs. Duke in 1972.. Had four TFLs against Clemson... Selected on the 14th round of the 1974 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears... Son, Joe, earned second team All-America honors last year as a junior defensive lineman on the Terrapins' football team.
