COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Forwards Hayley Brock and Becky Kaplan were named to the All-ACC second team, while midfielder Ashley Spivey was named to the ACC's All-Freshman team, as the league awards were announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Thursday, November 1.
"I'm pleased for Hayley, Becky and Ashley, because they have worked so hard to get where they're at and deserve these accolades," said Maryland head coach Jonathan Morgan. "These honors are also an indication of our team as a whole and are a reflection of the hard work and dedication put in by all of their teammates as well."
Brock, a native of Acton, Mass., earned her first conference honor after leading the No. 7-ranked Terrapins in points (26), goals (10) and assists (6). Seven of Brock's 10 goals came in conference matches and four of her 10 goals were game-winners.
Kaplan, a native of Oyster Bay, N.Y., earned her first all-ACC selection after posting career highs in goals (9), assists (4), points (22) and shots (44). Kaplan had a knack for scoring in key spots and has a team-best five game-winning goals this season.
Spivey, a native of Sparrows Point, Md., is Maryland's first representative on the ACC's All-Freshman team since 2009 when Danielle Hubka was selected. Spivey is third on the team in points (13) and goals (5) and is also among the team leaders in assists.
The Terrapins are the No. 2 seed in the ACC tournament and play No. 3 seed Wake Forest in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2 at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. That match is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.
