Brown Coach Patrick Laughlin
Opening statement:
"I want to say congratulations to the Maryland Terrapins for advancing in the NCAA Tournament. They're a really talented team, and we hope they win the national championship. I think we played at a high level tonight and gave them everything they could handle. It was a game that was going to be decided in a moment, and unfortunately, that moment was for Maryland. I'm really proud of the players and their efforts, and I'm really proud of this team."

On scoring first:
"We've seemed to be scoring a lot of the first goals lately, and sometimes that helps us and sometimes it hasn't. I think it helped us tonight. Coming into this environment, getting a lead is only going to be helpful. It's going to cause a little bit of pressure on them, which it did. It was a great game."

On the game plan against Maryland:
"I think for us, we feel as a program and a team, we want to compete with everyone. With Maryland, we knew they were a very good team -- scouted them heavily and saw them a lot. We wanted to press them and play aggressively with them. We kind of looked at it as a boxing match: you've got to take a few punches and then give out a few punches. We had to go to the middle of the ring, and the guys did."

Maryland Coach Sasho Cirovski
Opening statement:
"I'm proud of our team tonight. We didn't play our best soccer, but we showed our championship fiber and found a way to win. To score a goal in the last couple minutes of each half shows a team that's mentally tough.

"Brown is an outstanding team. I expected they were going to give us a great challenge tonight, and they did. They are great on set pieces. Even though we prepared for that, they created the first goal to put us in the hole. We made some adjustments and changes and our guys rose to the level necessary to find a way to get a win.

"This team has show its resiliency several times this year. They've proved to me over and over again that they have a heart of a champion. I'm proud of them. We know we're going to play better and better soccer as the tournament goes forward. Right now I'm delighted we found a way to win."

On Brown:
"I think their style is one that we've had some difficulty with. They're very physical, they're very direct and they're good in transition. They really, I thought, outworked us in the first 20 minutes of the game at all levels. Their forwards were tenacious, their midfielders were moving very quickly, and I thought we were a little bit quiet."

On advancing in the NCAA Tournament:
"I think during the season we played teams from different conferences and different styles, and you hope they prepare you. I thought with week in between the [North] Carolina game, we might recover and have the energy, but we looked a little antsy at the beginning. When you're such a high seed, the first game is typically the biggest challenge, both mentally and physically."

Sophomore Midfielder Dan Metzger
On the game-winning goal:
"Helge was playing good balls through the whole game. I just had a feeling he was going to get it into that spot. I think London [Woodberry] claims he hit it in at the end, but I'm pretty sure I got the last touch."

Junior Forward Patrick Mullins
On his goal:
"I don't think it's anything about my nature. Johnny did a great job getting me the ball and I saw the open shot. I've been taking shots like that my whole life, so it's just something I do. Obviously it was a big goal in the last five minutes of the half, but I just made the play at the right time."
