Three Earn NFHCA All-American Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Megan Frazer, junior Jill Witmer, and senior Harriet Tibble of the Maryland field hockey team were earned All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Tuesday.

Frazer made the First Team, while Witmer and Tibble were named to the Second Team. All three are repeat honorees. Frazer and Witmer are both three-time All-Americans.

Witmer led the Terrapins in scoring in the Tournament with two goals and an assist. She scored Maryland's second goal in a 2-0 win over No. 13 Lafayette in the first round. Against eventual national champion Princeton in the Final Four, Witmer scored off a rebounded shot from a penalty corner in the 10th minute to tie the game at 1-1.

Frazer earned the nation's top individual honor last year in the Honda Award. The senior co-captain finished with 28 points on the season and the top 10 of the league in shots (63), goals (10) and assists (8). She was a First Team All-American last year as well.

Tibble was a Second Team NFHCA All-American last season. She had 12 assists on the year. She anchored a Maryland defense that is second in the country in shutouts with nine in 24 games played.

Witmer, who hails from Lancaster, Pa., was a First Team NFHCA All-American last season. She leads the Terrapins in scoring this year with 14 goals. She also has 10 assists for a team-high 38 points. She is in the top 10 of the league in goals, assists and points.

Maryland is 53-17 all-time in NCAA Tournament play for more tournament wins than any other school. They have advanced to 16 Final Fours overall and 15 under Meharg.

In their four-year career, seniors Kirstie Dennig, Megan Frazer, Colleen Gulick, Danielle Kauffman, Janessa Pope, Lindsey Puckett, Harriet Tibble and Tara Zollinger competed in four Final Fours, three NCAA title games and three ACC title games. They won the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Championships and 2009 and 2010 ACC titles. They compiled a record of 83-12 (.874).
