GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Shelby Reyes was one of 36 student-athletes selected Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference office for the Weaver-James-Corrigan Award.
The Weaver-James-Corrigan scholarship is awarded to selected student-athletes - three from each league institution - who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements. Each recipient will receive $5,000 to contribute to his or her graduate education.
Reyes is in her third season as Maryland's No. 1 goaltender. She has helped the Terps post a 5-3 mark this season, including three wins over top-20 teams.
The senior backboned a third-place finish at the 2011 CWPA Eastern Championship, which matched the best showing in program history (third in 2009).
Reyes entered the year with a career blocking percentage of .504 (second in school history) and 420 career blocks (third in the Maryland record book). The native of Miami, Fla., was a 2011 first team All-CWPA Southern Division selection. She is a two-time member (2010-11) of both the CWPA Women's Varsity Scholar-Athlete Team and ACWPC All-Academic Team.
