BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - The Maryland water polo team is ranked No. 14 is this week's women's varsity national poll.
It marks the highest-ever ranking for the Terps, who are off to a 5-3 start.
Maryland, which was tied for 17th in last week's poll, has knocked off three top-20 teams, including an 11-4 win over then No. 19 Cal State Northridge Sunday at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif.
Stanford, California and USC rank first, second and third, respectively, in the poll.
The highest the Terps have reached in the national poll during their eight-year history is 17th which has occurred multiple times.
Maryland is also third in this week's CWPA Division I poll. Indiana, which edged the Terps 11-10 Sunday at the Triton Invite, is first and Michigan is second.
