TROY, N.Y. - In its first CWPA Western Division game of the season, Maryland turned to its top goal scorers and senior goalkeeper.

Katie Ermakova matched a career high with four goals and Allison Campbell added three to help the 14th-ranked Terrapins (7-3, 1-0) hold off No. 16 Hartwick, 12-10, Saturday afternoon at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Campbell, who has a team-high 20 goals, scored twice in the fourth quarter, including the eventual game-winner with 5:53 left.

"Campbell had a really strong game," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said.

After Campbell's final score gave the Terps an 11-9 lead, Ermakova, second on the team in goals with 18, added an insurance marker 28 seconds later.

Hartwick (11-5, 0-2) twice pulled within a goal in the third period.

Jemma Dendy Young's goal, the first of her team-high four tallies, at 3:58 of the third cut the deficit to 7-6, but Maryland scored three of the next four goals.

The Terps, who never trailed after taking a 2-1 lead midway through the first quarter, got a strong effort from goalie Shelby Reyes who stopped two breakaways and one 5-meter penalty shot in the fourth quarter.

"Shelby came up huge," Salyer said. "We had way too many turnovers, but she made some big saves down the stretch and we came out with a win."

The victory over Hartwick was Maryland's second triumph of the day.

Freshman Danielle Robinson scored a season-high three goals and Campbell added two to help lift Maryland to a 12-7 victory over Brown Saturday morning in a non-division game.

The Terps took control of the game by holding the Bears (5-3) scoreless for over a 17-minute stretch from late in the first period til end of the third.

After Madison Pepper's strike at the 1:10 mark of the first quarter pulled Brown within 4-3, Maryland reeled off the next four goals.

Robinson's first goal at 1:56 of the second quarter made the score 6-3 and Hailey Smith's tally at the 0:48 mark of the third increased the lead to 8-3.

Brown never got closer the rest of the way. Pepper had a team-high three goals for the Bears.

Nine Terps scored in the game, and Campbell and Zoe Respondek each had five steals.

Maryland will face No. 11 Indiana (10-3, 1-0) at 10 a.m. Sunday in an early-season battle for first place in the CWPA Western Division.

Indiana downed Hartwick, 13-7, in Saturday morning action.

Hartwick is playing host to the weekend games at RPI.
