TROY, N.Y. - Simone Lewis and Danielle Robinson each had two goals and No. 14 Maryland got a strong defensive effort in edging 11th-ranked Indiana, 9-8, Sunday morning in a CWPA Western Division game played at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The Terps (8-3, 2-0) earned their third win in a row, and first this season over the defending CWPA Eastern Champion Hoosiers (11-4, 1-1) who had their five-game winning streak snapped. One of those victories included a come-from-behind triumph over the Terps.

The win for Maryland was against its highest-rated opponent in program history. The Terps knocked off No. 12 Hartwick last season in the third-place game at the CWPA Eastern Championship.

Maryland rallied from an early 4-1 deficit in an early-season battle for first in the division with some solid defense and timely scoring.

Leading scorer Allison Campbell, who chipped in one goal, had six steals. Zoe Respondek had a goal and five steals.

Shelby Reyes went the distance in net and had five blocks.

"We played absolutely great on defense," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said. "We had some jitters on the offense end, but we worked through that."

After Robinson snapped a 7-all tie with her second goal late in the fourth quarter, Carly Hoshko scored the eventual game-winner after an ejection with 47 seconds left.

"That was a big-time goal and nice way to end the game," Salyer said.

The Terps won all three games at RPI over the last two days. They downed Brown, 12-7, and No. 16 Hartwick, 12-10, in Saturday's action.

Indiana, then ranked ninth in the country, rallied from three-goal deficit to secure an 11-10 win over then No. 17 Maryland in the fifth-place game of the Triton Invitational on Feb. 12.

"That was a real quality win," Salyer said of the victory over Indiana. "We certainly played better than yesterday. It was a great weekend against some strong competition. I'm proud of how we responded."

Maryland is back in action Saturday with a pair of division games in Eric, Pa. The Terps face Gannon at 11 a.m. and Notre Dame (Ohio) at 4 p.m.
