Future Terp Earns Andi Collins Award

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Mackenzie Dagostino, who will join the Maryland volleyball team in the fall, has received the prestigious Andi Collins Award, which is given to the nation's top prep-setter, PrepVolleyball.com announced Wednesday.
Dagostino, a 2011-12 Under Armour High School All-America and the 49th-rated player in the class of 2012, led Tampa's Berkeley Prep to its third consecutive Florida state title in 2011.
Said head coach Tim Horsmon of Dagostino, "She's a volleyball junkie. We are pretty excited about what she brings to the program -- her mentality and understanding of how to play the game."
Dagostino contributed a school-record 1,156 assists (12.3 per game), a team-leading 62 aces and 270 service points. She also added 74 blocks, 298 digs and 254 kills, all among the top three on the team.
The Andi Collins Award has been given annually since 2003. Of the past eight recipients, five have gone on to earn All-America status including Bryn Kehoe (Stanford) and Nellie Spicer (UCLA) who were voted first-team All-America and Lauren Cook (UCLA) who earned 2009 AVCA Freshman of the Year honors.
