DAVIS, Calif. - The Maryland water polo team has reached new heights this season.

The Terps moved to 10th this week in the national poll, their highest ranking in school history, and had a chance Saturday to set a program record for consecutive wins.

However, after a dominating 18-3 win over Fresno Pacific in the morning, Maryland was upended by No.15 UC Davis, 8-6, later in the day to snap a six-game winning streak on the opening day of its spring break trip.

Freshman Danielle Robinson matched a career high with four goals and Allison Campbell added three as nine Maryland players scored against Fresno Pacific which never led in the game at UC Davis and was held scoreless for a three-period stretch.

After a Krista Loper goal cut the Terps lead to 3-2 with 1:22 left in the opening quarter, Maryland reeled off the next 14 goals. Fresno Pacific posted its final goal with just more than one minute left in the game.

Rachel Stein went the distance in net for Maryland and registered seven saves.

Carly Hoshko, Nicole Tobin, Katie Ermakova and Molly Ruth each scored twice for the Terps (11-4) who were not able to generate near as much offense in their second game of the day.

Hoshko and Ermakova again each scored twice, but Maryland could not regain the lead in the second half against the Aggies.

Hoshko's exclusion goal at the 1:43 mark of the second quarter put the Terrapins in front 3-2, but Carmen Eggert and Jessica Dunn answered with goals later in the period to give UC Davis (9-11) the lead.

Simone Lewis tied the game at 4-all with 5:56 left in the third, but Dakotah Mohr put the Aggies ahead to stay 21 seconds later with an exclusion goal.

Allyson Hansen had the eventual game-winner with her goal at the 3:39 mark of the fourth giving the Aggies a 7-5 lead.

"They came gunning for us and gave us a great game," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said of the Aggies. "We just weren't on the same page for the first half offensively and made some silly mistakes defensively. We did some good things, but didn't have it today."

UC Davis' Riane Woods had 12 saves, including five in the second period and four more in the final quarter.

    Maryland's Taylor Reeves turned back a career-high 12 shots.

The Terps, who had won six straight games five other times (2007, 2008 - twice, 2009, 2011) will play at Sonoma State on Thursday (3 p.m.) before closing out the five-game road trip with a pair of games at Pacific.

Maryland will take on the Tigers at noon on Saturday, March 24 and then close the trip out the next day (10:30 a.m.) with a game against Santa Clara.
