STOCKTON, Calif. -
Allison Campbell scored a pair of goals and had five steals to help engineer Maryland's come-from-behind 10-8 win over Pacific Saturday afternoon in the Terrapins' fourth game of their annual spring break trip.
The 13th-ranked Terps (13-4) trailed 7-4 early in the third quarter before mounting their rally.
Campbell's goal with 3:17 left in the third knotted the game at 7-all. She tied it again at 8-all with a strike 3:51 into the final period after stealing the ball from Pacific which was held scoreless over the final 9:31 of the game.
Nicole Tobin, who also had two goals, had the game-winner, scoring an exclusion goal with 2:54 left in the contest. That tally gave Maryland its first lead of the game.
Campbell set up an insurance goal as her steal enabled Rebecca Gerrity to score 23 seconds later.
"We got our butts kicked in the first half," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said. "After we allowed those three goals early in the third, we toughened up the rest of the way."
Pacific (9-11) scored the first two goals of the game, but Maryland tied it at 3-all on Carly Hosko's goal less than one minute into the second quarter.
However, the Tigers scored four of the next five goals, setting the stage for Maryland's second-half rally.
Maryland closes out its five-game road trip at 10:30 a.m. PDT Sunday when it takes on Santa Clara at Pacific. The Terps have won three of the four games on the California swing.
