COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland water polo team opens a three-game homestand at 8 a.m. Saturday (originally scheduled for 10 a.m.) when it plays host to Princeton, another nationally-ranked team, at the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium.

Coming off a 4-1 performance on their nine-day spring break trip, the Terrapins (14-4) moved up one spot in the women's varsity national poll into a tie for No. 12 with the Tigers (20-3) who got off to a red-hot start this season by winning 14 of their first 15 games.

The Terps have won nine of their last 10 games with a strong, counter-attacking offense and solid defense. They have averaged 13.4 goals over that stretch and held all but one opponent to eight or fewer.

Junior attacker Allison Campbell captured her third CWPA Western Division Player of the Week Award Tuesday after posting 11 goals, two assists and 12 steals in Maryland's last three victories. The reigning Division Player of the Year leads the team in goals (39), points (58) and steals (52).

Sophomore Katie Ermakova has a been a scoring threat all season. She is second in goals (36) and points (44), and third in steals (26).

Senior captain Shelby Reyes has been the backbone of the defense. She secured the division's top defensive player of the week award with three victories in net.

Maryland has won its last three matchups with Princeton, including a 9-8 overtime victory in the opening round of the 2011 CWPA Eastern Championship. The Tigers had won the previous three meetings in the series.

Long-time members of the CWPA Southern Division, Maryland and Princeton will meet as nonconference foes.

Maryland is tied for first in the CWPA Western Division with ninth-ranked Michigan. Both have 4-0 records and will meet in College Park on Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. in the regular-season finale. The Terps, who moved to the Western Division this season, face Salem International the day before at 4:30 p.m.

Princeton is a perfect 4-0 and sits atop the standings in the Southern Division.
