COLLEGE PARK, MD. - A match with DC United Women in Germantown, Md., and the annual alumni game highlight the 2012 spring Maryland women's soccer schedule, Maryland women's soccer coach Jonathan Morgan announced today.
"As always we are excited about the spring season and the opportunity it lends to teaching and developing our players," said Morgan. "We have a great schedule which will allow our players to be tested and evaluated in a variety of competitive settings. With the departure of 11 seniors, there are holes to be filled and the coaching staff looks forward to seeing which players capitalize on the opportunity."
The spring season kicks off with four home matches, beginning on Sunday, March 11 with two-time defending Big East champions West Virginia.
Maryland then faces future ACC opponent Pittsburgh on April 1. Regional rival George Mason visits on April 6 and a match with Penn on April 13 wraps up the home stand.
The following Saturday, April 21, finds Terps at the Headers For Hope 2012 Spring Showcase at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, Md. Maryland will play DC United Women in one of the day's feature matches.
According to its website, "Headers For Hope was established in honor of every individual who has been diagnosed with cancer; every family member who has held the hand of their loved one being treated for cancer; and all friends acting as a support system to someone who has been told the news they have cancer. Unfortunately, cancer more often than not hits home, which means this foundation was established for you."
