BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - The Maryland water polo team secured the fourth seed at the 2012 CWPA Eastern Championship which will be held April 27-29 in Providence, R.I.

The 14th-ranked Terps (17-6) captured the CWPA Western Division regular-season title and have won 12 of their last 15 games, but dropped a pair at last weekend's seven-team division tournament.

Maryland will face 13th-seeded Salem International at 10:20 a.m. on Friday, April 27 in opening-round action at Brown University.

No. 10-ranked Michigan, which claimed the CWPA Western Division tournament crown, is the top seed in the 13-team field which also features the six schools from the Southern Division.

No. 13 Princeton won the Southern Division and is seeded second. No. 12 Indiana, which upended Maryland in Saturday's third-place divisional game, is third.

The first-place team in the CWPA Eastern Championship receives an automatic bid to the eight-team NCAA field.

Indiana won the Eastern Championship last season and Michigan won the previous three.
