PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Simone Lewis and Danielle Robinson scored two goals apiece, and Shelby Reyes posted 12 saves to lead fourth-seeded Maryland to a 7-5 win over No. 5 seed Hartwick College Friday evening in the second round of the 2012 CWPA Eastern Championship Schedule.
The 14th-ranked Terps (19-6) will face top-seeded and 10th-ranked Michigan at 7:20 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals of the three-day, 13-team tournament.
Maryland had to hold off a late charge by the Hawks (27-12) who cut the lead to 5-4 at the 5:26 mark of the fourth period.
But Lewis scored both of her goals in the next two minutes to seal the game.
Maryland jumped out to a 4-1 lead at the 4:40 mark of the third on a goal by Nicole Tobin before Hartwick roared back by scoring three of the next four goals.
Carly Hoshko and Rebecca Gerrity also scored for the Terps.
Kamila Zakirova and Jemma Dendy Young had two goals each for Hartwick which will play Bucknell at 12:40 p.m. Saturday in the consolation bracket.
A win by Maryland on Saturday sends it to the championship game which is slated for 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
The winner of the CWPA Eastern Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAAs.
