HAMPTON, Va. - Incoming freshman Kathy Tang placed in the top 10 on vault and beam, and tied for sixth in the all-around over the weekend at the 2012 Women's U.S. Junior Olympic National Championships at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.
Tang tallied a 37.975 in the all-around after finishing seventh on vault with a 9.600 and tied for 10th on beam with a 9.400.
"Kathy had a great meet," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "She was confident and aggressive on all four events. She will make an excellent addition to the team next year and is definitely one of the new faces our fans will look forward to seeing."
The two-day event featured nearly 450 of the United States' best Level 10 gymnasts, who competed on the highest level in the Junior Olympic program that is just under the elite level.
A native of Agawam, Mass., Tang trains at Daggett's Gold Medal Gymnastics.
