Profit Wins Second NACAC Heptathlon

GUANAJUATO, Mexico - Kiani Profit successfully defended her title in the women's heptathlon on Saturday at the North American - Central American - Caribbean (NACAC) U-23 Track & Field Championships.
Profit, who recently completed her career at the University of Maryland, scored 5,653 points to win the title. The mark was just under her personal-best of 5,695 that she posted in winning the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference heptathlon title.
She also won the NACAC U-23 title in 2010, and this year's victory came just over a week after she completed a heptathlon competition at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Profit had the top marks among the competitors in the 200-meter dash, with a career-best 24.08, and in the 800 meters with a 2:16.26. She also went 13.93 in the 100 hurdles, 5-2.25 in the high jump, 39-1.75 in the shot put, 18-9.25 in the long jump and 134-0 in the javelin.
Jessica Flax of the U.S. was second in the heptathlon at 5,544 points, with Makeba Alcide of Saint Lucia in third with 5,522.
Maryland assistant coach Danielle Siebert is an event manager for the Team USA staff at this competition.
