
Arias To Compete In London Olympics

COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Nataly Arias, who competed for the University of Maryland women's soccer team from 2004-08, was one of 18 players named to the Colombian National team that will represent the country in the 2012 Olympic Games in London later this month
Arias, a team captain for the Terps as a senior in 2008, will be the first women's soccer player from Maryland to compete in the Olympic Games.
A native of Alexandria, Va., Arias is eligible to play for Colombia with it being her mother, Gladys', home country.
Arias competed for Colombia in the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany, earning her first three World Cup caps, starting all three games and playing every minute of group play.
Colombia will play in Group G with the United States, France and North Korea. The full schedule for group play is listed below.
To prepare for the Olypmics, the Colombian team is slated to play exhibition matches against Canada (July 9), Cameroon (July 11), Brazil (July 14) and New Zealand (July 17) at various locations in Switzerland.
