COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Five different Terrapins scored as the Maryland field hockey team got production from numerous players in a 5-0 win over No. 15 Ohio State Sunday at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

Eight Terps (3-1) took 19 shots to the Buckeyes' (2-2) seven shots. Anna Dessoye, Megan Frazer, Katie Gerzabek, Colleen Gulick and Ali McEvoy all scored in the win.

"We had so many different people contribute," head coach Missy Meharg said. "Everybody wanted to get the ball into the circle and have more attack, more sustained attack. We took 19 shots, which is a nice number. Goalkeeper Natalie Hunter played well in the first half on corner defense and had good presence there. We're really impressed with Danielle Kauffman and Janessa Pope, who played really strongly in the midfield for us."

"The women really encouraged each other in a positive way. Hayley Turner really set a presence, intercepted and used her athleticism. We grew in the game. I didn't like the way we started, but the women found a way on their own to bring themselves out of it. That leadership on the field was good."

In the 20th minute, Dessoye put the Terrapins (3-1) on the board when she put one in off a rebounded shot. It was her first career goal. Three minutes later, Gerzabek made it a two-goal Terps lead when she sent one in from junior Jill Witmer.

With just over three minutes left in the first stanza, Frazer added another Maryland goal with a shot off another penalty corner setup. The Terps led 3-0 at the break.

McEvoy made it a 4-0 game off a corner set up by Gerzabek and sophomore Maxine Fluharty in the 58th minute. Gulick gave the Terrapins their final goal when she hit one in off a Buckeye in the 67th minute.

Maryland had nine penalty corners to Ohio State's five. Ohio State did not get a corner in the second half.

The Terps' Natalie Hunter started in goal and notched a save in the first half. Brooke Cabrera was in the goal in the second half and got her first career save. Ohio State's Emma Voelker had seven saves.

Next, Maryland will welcome Dartmouth, Massachusetts and No. 25 American to College Park next weekend for the Terrapin Invitational Saturday and Sunday. The Terrapins will play Massachusetts Saturday at 11 a.m., with American and Dartmouth playing at 1 p.m. On Sunday, the Eagles and the Minutewomen will take the field at noon, with the Terps taking on Dartmouth at 1 p.m.

Admission and parking are free for all four games.
