Postgame Notes: Syracuse 20, Maryland 3

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Postgame notes following Maryland's 20-3 loss to Syracuse at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.


 

Kicking It Off: Maryland suffered its fourth loss of the season dropping 20-3 contest to Syracuse. The Terps fall to 5-4 and 1-4 in the ACC, while Syracuse improves to 5-4 and 3-2 in the conference. It is the Orange's fifth straight win in the series and improves its all-time record against the Terps to 19-14-2.

Career First: Freshman defensive back William Likely came up with his first career interception in the second quarter. Likely jumped in front of the pass to make a diving catch. It was the second turnover generated by the Terrapin defense on the day.

Monroe with the Strip: Defensive lineman Andre Monroe recorded his second forced fumble of the season in the second quarter with linebacker Alex Twine hopping on the loose ball. Monroe's two forced fumbles ties him with linebacker Marcus Whitfield for the team high.

Leading the Way: Wide receiver Amba Etta-Tawo finished with a career-high 109 yards receiving to lead all receivers on six receptions. Etta-Tawo averaged 17.5 yards per catch had a career-long reception 26 yards midway through the fourth quarter. He is the fourth Terrapin receiver to go over 100 yards this season and the second in as many games. Levern Jacobs had 158 yards receiving against Clemson two weekends ago.

Offensive Notes: Wide receiver Levern Jacobs had six catches for 25 yards … Nigel King tied a career-high with five catches for 65 yards … quarterback C.J. Brown passed for 211 yards completing 21-of-40 passes … running back Brandon Ross led the Terps with 54 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Defensive Notes: The Terrapin defense held Syracuse to just six points following four Maryland turnovers … defensive back Sean Davis led the team with 11 tackles, eight solo, and had one pass breakup … linebacker Abner Logan recorded his second straight double-digit tackle performance with 10 … Andre Monroe, Matt Robinson, Alex Twine and Marcus Whitfield all had one TFL.
