Four Terps Named to All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland junior Ashleigh Crutcher and Adreené Elliott, and freshman Emily Fraik have been named to the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Volleyball Team, the conference announced Thursday.
Maryland, along with Duke, Georgia Tech and Miami, placed a league-high four student-athletes on the team. For the Terps, it ties a program record for the most student-athletes to earn All-ACC Academic in a season. Maryland had four players named to the squad in 2010.
Cushman is a three-time honoree. This past season, Cushman battled injuries, but managed to finish third on the team with a 2.89 kills per set average and recorded 3.04 kills per set in ACC action.
An All-ACC selection, Crutcher earned Honorable Mention AVCA All-American honors and AVCA All-Region honors after averaging a team-high 3.79 kills per set last season.
Elliott finished the 2012 season ranked second on the team with a 3.12 k/s average and led the team with 119 total blocks. Elliott's .363 hitting percentage is the fourth highest single-season average in school history.
In her first year at Maryland, Fraik was a strong performer at outside hitter. The Wyoming, Ohio, native tallied 100 kills and 36 blocks for the Terps and played in 27 of the team's 32 matches.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Miami's Nrithya Sundararaman earned 2012 ACC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.
