GREENSBORO N.C. – Maryland shot a 311 in the opening round and is currently tied for 7th at the ACC Women's Golf Championship. Sophomore Juliet Vongphoumy is currently the top Terp, after shooting a five-over 76 in the first round at the Sedgefield County Club.
Junior Emily Gimpel and Freshman Christine Shimel is not far behind in a tie for 27th, after shooting an eight-over 79.
Duke University is currently at the top of the team leaderboard, after shooting a nine-over 293 as a team in the opening round. Virginia is the next closest team, sitting in second after posting a 300 today. Virginia's Brittany Altomare is the tournament's individual leader, posting an even-par 71 in the first round.
Play will resume tomorrow when teams begin teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
