Academic Counselor

Position Summary: The Academic Counselor in the Academic Support and Career Development Unit (ASCDU) is responsible for assisting student-athletes in meeting their academic objectives. This individual will serve as the primary contact and academic counselor for academic plans and progress of student-athletes for assigned Olympic sport programs. Specific responsibilities include; participating in the recruitment, orientation, pre-registration and enrollment of student-athletes; acting as a liaison to faculty, administrators, and coaches regarding student-athletes academic matters; tracking and monitoring academic progress; coordinating and facilitating career development programs; teaching a section of UNIV 100- Introduction to the University course; and performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree required, ideally in Counseling, Student Personnel, Education or related field. At least 2-3 years of experience in post-secondary educational institutions, preferably in athletic academic services. Must have a working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills are needed. Must be computer literate. Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends. Master's degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Education or related field.
