2002 Update:
• Made first UM start on Senior Night vs. Florida State (10/25) and played first seven minutes.
• Action for the final seven minutes vs. Mason (10/16).
• Played final 21 minutes vs. GW (9/22) with one shot.
• Played in three games as a junior at UM in 2001.
• Joined Terps as a walk-on for the 2000 season.
• Played freshman year at Division III Bridgewater College in Virginia, finishing second on the team in points with 21.
On McClellan: One of five seniors on the team … has made significant improvements since joining the Terps as a walk-on before the start of the 2000 season … will add depth for the 2002 season and round out the midfield … versatile player who can play anywhere in the midfield.
Summer of 2002: Played for the Northern Virginia Majestics of the W-League.
As a junior (2001): Played in three matches, totaling 14 minutes as a reserve midfielder … saw time vs. Towson (8/31), George Washington (9/21) and Mount St. Mary's (10/30) … named to the ACC Honor Roll for second year in a row.
As a sophomore (2000): Played in two games in first collegiate season at Maryland after transferring from Bridgewater College … made Terp debut against George Washington (9/12) … also saw action against Howard (10/11).
As a freshman (1999): At Division III Bridgewater College in Virginia, started all 17 of the Eagles' games ... school was in its first varsity season and finished 9-8 ... second on the team in scoring with eight goals and five assists for 21 points.
Before Maryland: Played at Annapolis Area Christian High School in Annapolis, Md. … named to the Tri-State All-League team by the Washington Post … also lettered in lacrosse in high school … played for the Bowie Soccer United soccer club team.
Personal: Sarah Michelle McClellan … born Oct. 6, 1981 … daughter of Jeannie and Kevin McClellan … sister of Matthew (25) and Karen (23) … member of the National Honor Society … two-time member of the ACC Honor Roll … majoring in biochemistry.
