Maryland Wins Battle With James Madison
HARRISONBURG, Va. - Three different players scored to lead fifth-ranked Maryland (12-1)
to a 3-1 win over sixth-ranked James Madison (10-3) in field hockey Wednesday night at
Bridgeforth Stadium.
JMU took an early lead when Colleen Hurley scored on a penalty-corner play just 5:21
into the game.
Maryland's Nadine Bennett scored with 14:04 elapsed to tie the game. In the second period,
Carla Tagliente's goal only 1:04 into the half gave the Terps the lead, and Christine
Debow added an insurance goal with 19:23 left in the game.
The first half was evenly played, with JMU holding a 5-4 edge on shots on goal.
Maryland dominated the second half with a 9-2 advantage on shots.
Maryland returns home on Friday night to take on Rutgers.
