2005 NCAA Champions
It seemed to be fate. Six years after winning the program's third national crown, Maryland claimed its fourth, shutting out No. 3 Duke, 1-0, in Louisville, Ky., for the 2005 title. Jackie Ciconte's goal in the first half was all the No. 1 Maryland field hockey team needed to capture the 2005 NCAA Championship crown.
Paula Infante is selected the Honda Award winner, after All-America honors for the third time and is the 2005 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Emily Beach, Infante and Lauren Powley are all selected All-ACC and first team All-Americans, while Jackie Ciconte and Kathryn Masson are tabbed second and third team All-Americans, respectively. Missy Meharg becomes the first coach in NCAA history to be named NFHCA National Coach of the Year five times.
