On Kauffman: After playing a backup role her freshman season, she flourished in her first season as a starter last year a versatile player, who can play in the midfield or backfield.
1998 season: A second-team Mid Atlantic Region All-America selection finished third on the team with 30 total points, second on the team with 16 assists and fifth on the team with seven goals her 16 assists ties former Terp Sabrina Salam for the fifth-best single-season total in Maryland history (Salam had 16 assists in 1990) her 16 assists was the 15th best total in the nation in 1998 and the third-best total in the ACC led the Terps with three defensive saves scored one goal and tallied two assists vs. Richmond on Sept. 2 recorded two defensive saves against then No. 11 Michigan on Sept. 5 tallied two assists in the Terps' 5-0 upset of then No. 1 North Carolina on Oct. 11 recorded two more assists against Bucknell on Oct. 13, against then ninth-ranked Duke on Oct. 17, and against Penn on Oct. 20.
1997 season: A top reserve on the midfield line scored her first career goal against Delaware on Sept. 25.
Before Maryland: A first-team high school All-America selection her senior year at Wilson High School a two-time first-team all-state selection named all-county her junior and senior seasons also ran track in the spring and competed in the 300-meter intermediate hurdle event.
International Experience: A member of the U.S. Under-20 team in 1999 and the U.S. Under-19 team in 1998.
Personal: Born 25, 1979 parents are Jeanette and Doug Kauffman an elementary education major.
