On Welsh: One of the Terps' top returning defenders started off last season as a reserve, but worked her way into the starting lineup has outstanding speed.
1998 season: A second-team Mid Atlantic Region All-America selection the ACC Rookie of the Year scored her first career goal against American on Sept. 19 converted a penalty stroke against Duke on Oct. 18 helped lead a Terp defense that surrendered only one goal in the ACC Tournament assisted on Carla Tagliente's game-winning goal in overtime against Boston on Oct. 18.
Before Maryland: A first-team high school All-America selection at Emmaus High School her senior year a two-time first-team all-state selection as a senior, she scored 14 goals and recorded 26 assists in her junior season, she scored 19 goals and tallied 24 assists.
International Experience: A member of the U.S. Under-20 team in 1999 selected to the U.S. Under-19 team in 1997 and 1998 a member of the U.S. Under-16 team in 1996.
Personal: Born July 3, 1980 parents are Alice and Bill Welsh a letters and sciences major.
