Before Maryland: Played at John A. Logan College and Southeastern CC before Maryland ... two-year letterwinner at Riverdale Baptist prior to college ... won the Private School Championship at Riverdale in 1997 and '98 … played in the 1998 MSABC all-star game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards .. batted .437 with 20 doubles his junior season at Riverdale while hitting .385 with six homers his senior campaign … high school coach was Terry Terrill.

Personal: Born June 30, 1980 … parents are Teresa and Steve Haynes … majoring in communications … was recruited by Indiana and Xavier … chose to attend Maryland because of the baseball program and the academics.
