On Corwin: Is expected to provide leadership in and out of the pool as team captain. The coaching staff is looking for Elyse to contribute in every aspect of the game, including being a force at the centerback position and leading the Terrapin counterattack. She is the leading returning scorer.
2004: Started all 12 games in the program's inaugural varsity season after spending three years on Maryland's club water polo team ... third on the team with six goals scored ... tied for sixth on the team with 16 steals ... also registered three assists.
Before Maryland: Lettered in water polo for two years and swimming for four years at Miramonte High School ... member of the Golden Bear water polo team for five years ... four-time high school All-American in the relay events and a two-time All-America selection in the 100- and 200-free ... holds the school record in the 100 free, 200 free and 50 free ... won a conference championship three times at Miramonte.
Personal: Daughter of Cindy Kahan and Jan Corwin ... her sister Marissa is a teammate ... a business marketing major ... was recruited by such schools as California, Miami, UNLV and UC Santa Barbara for swimming ... chose to attend Maryland due to the coaches and the team.
