Salyer On Gurnee: "Alex's solid scoring ability will be key to the team. She has an ability to find the open water and score goals at any time. Alex demonstrates strong determination in both practice and competition."

Before Maryland: Won team MVP honors in her junior and senior seasons... named team captain in 2008... played for water polo club team Irvine Kahua for five seasons, which placed eighth at the Junior Olympics in 2007.

Personal: Parents are Brian and Anissa Gurnee... has two brothers, Geoff (28) and Grayson (16)... likes to read, write, and watch movies in her spare time... recruited by Bucknell, Davis, and Chapman, among others... majors in english and her career aspiration is to be a writer.
