On Lombardo: Offensive tackle who will get his shot at a starting job in his final season ... enters fall camp atop the depth chart at right tackle ... has good size and strength ... has shown flashes in his playing time as a reserve the last two years ... posted the highest strength index (714) among offensive linemen and eighth-highest on the team in earning Iron Terp honors for the third straight year ... benched 410 and squatted 665 on testing day this off-season ... 675-pound squat in spring of 2003 was the third-best in school history by an offensive lineman.

2003 (Junior): Played in all 13 games ... posted four "big blocks" and committed just one penalty in 141 plays ... best outing of the season came at Eastern Michigan as he posted two "big blocks" with no penalties or missed assignments in 17 plays.

2002 (Sophomore): Played in 11 games ... missed a pair of games due to a high left-ankle sprain ... was in for a season-high 13 plays against Eastern Michigan and Duke ... (vs. Akron) ... posted his lone "big block" of the season.

2001 (Redshirt Freshman): Saw action in all 12 games ... was a backup at left tackle behind then fellow redshirt freshman C.J. Brooks.

2000 (Freshman): Redshirt season.

High School: A 2000 graduate of Calvert Hall College High School in Baltimore, Md. ... a two-time first team all-state selection ... started 43 consecutive games as a prep ... three-year starter on the varsity ... as a senior, was an all-region selection by PrepStar ... named first team All-Baltimore City/County by the Baltimore Sun ... high school coach was Jay Robinson.

Personal: Louis Lombardo is the son of Maria and Santo Lombardo ... majoring in criminology and criminal justice and geography ... a Maryland scholar-athlete in 2000 and 2001.
