The University of Maryland women's soccer team is ranked No. 17 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Terps' are ranked for the fourth consecutive season in the preseason poll.
The ACC is well represented in the poll with seven teams in the Top 25: North Carolina (No. 1), Florida State (3), Duke (7), Virginia (8), Notre Dame (10), Wake Forest (15) and Maryland (16). Virginia Tech and Boston College also received votes.
The preseason poll is the first of 17 rankings throughout the season by the NSCAA.
In addition to the six ranked ACC teams the Terps will play this season, Maryland will also travel to play at No. 2 Stanford and No. 16 Santa Clara.
Maryland hosts its lone preseason exhibition on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. Ludwig Field vs. Loyola. The Terps will then open their 2013 slate on Friday, Aug. 23 when they host The Citadel at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
Maryland returns seven starters, including 2012's leading scorer Hayley Brock, and 21 letterwinners from last season's squad that earned the program's fourth-straight bid to the NCAA tournament and was the runner-up in the ACC tournament.
Coach Jonathan Morgan begins his second season in charge of the Terrapins and is looking to lead his team to five-straight NCAA tournament bids for the first time since 1995-99.=
