Dessoye Named Big Ten Offensive Player the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior Anna Dessoye of the second-ranked Maryland field hockey team (11-2, 4-1 B1G) was voted Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday as she tallied nine points in the Terps' wins over No. 4 Penn State and Pennsylvania over the weekend.
Dessoye made a penalty stroke and assisted to freshman Lein Holsboer for the Terrapins' first goal just 10 minutes into the 4-3 win over the Nittany Lions Friday. In the 54th minute, she made Maryland's first penalty stroke of the year for a three-goal lead.
In the Terrapins' 9-0 rout of Pennsylvania Sunday, Dessoye tallied a career-high six points off of another made penalty stroke and four assists. She assisted on the Terps' second, third, fifth and sixth goals to three different scorers to tie her career high in assists. She made a penalty stroke in the 46th minute for an 8-0 lead.
This is the first career weekly honor for the midfielder. She currently leads the Terrapins with 25 points off of seven goals and 11 assists this season.
Maryland will head to Princeton (3-8) Wednesday for a 6 p.m. matchup at the Tigers' Bedford Field. Live stats will be available for Wednesday's game at GoPrincetonTigers.com and the game will be shown online for a fee on The Ivy League Digital Network.
The Terrapins will return home next weekend to host Big Ten opponent in Rutgers (6-6, 1-4) next Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Admission and parking are both free.
