Assistant Director for Grounds

The Assistant Director for Grounds will assist with the day-to-day operations of the athletic grounds unit, which is responsible for ensuring the department's athletic fields meet the requirements for appearance, safety, and usage. Specific responsibilities include preparation and maintenance of all athletic fields for all home athletic events, practices, and use by outside entities; ensuring fields meet NCAA, Big Ten, and all other safety standards and regulations; coordinating the schedule and use of departmental fields; providing input when determining the playability of a field; assist the Grounds Manager with the supervision of grounds staff; assist with budget, payroll, and purchasing issues; assist with the maintenance and repair of all equipment, including trucks, mowers, and other grounds accessories; schedule and perform all preventative maintenance to ensure that equipment is maintained at adequate safety standards; and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least 1-2 years of experience in athletic field maintenance, or other related environment required. Ability to work nights and weekends required. Possession of or ability to obtain within three months of employment a Certified Pesticide Applicators License, Fertilizer Applicator's License, and forklift operation certification preferred.
