ROSEMONT, Ill. – Following a 3-for-3 performance at Michigan Saturday, University of Maryland kicker Brad Craddock has been named the Big Ten Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Craddock connected on field goals from 21, 38 and 41 yards to help Maryland earn a 23-16 win in the Big House. The junior is now 17-for-17 this season and has converted 23 straight field goal attempts, the longest active streak in FBS. Craddock is the only FBS kicker that is perfect this season.
With 23 straight successful field goal attempts, Craddock passed Iowa's Nate Kaeding (2001-02) for the second-longest streak in Big Ten history. Craddock is one field goal shy of tying the all-time conference mark held by Ohio State's Mike Nugent, who hit 24 straight from 2001-02.
In the effort, Craddock increased his career total to 48 successful field goal attempts and his career point total 240. Both totals passed Dan Plocki (1985-88) on the all-time Maryland charts. Craddock now ranks third all-time in career field goals made and career points by a kicker.
Craddock shared the weekly honor with Illinois kicker David Reisner.
Maryland closes its regular season slate Saturday against Rutgers at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
