Hey there Terps Fans!
Hope you all had a spooktacular Halloween! We had a Halloween themed intrasquad in the gym this week, and really showed the potential this team has this year.
On Monday and Tuesday we worked to finalize our routines in order to be ready to show them off for the intrasquad on Thursday and Friday. This was the first time all year everyone was able to showcase all the hard work they have been putting into their new routines. The freshman were able to experience the atmosphere of competition for the first time, while everyone else got to feel the familiar feeling of season, and the excitement it brings.
On Thursday, the Terps competed on bars and floor. We were able to put 14 full bar routines together along with 10 full floor routines! Starting on bars, everyone stepped up to the plate and put their nerves aside and put up a number of beautiful routines! After bars, the team was feeling unstoppable! We headed to floor and exemplified the explosiveness and grace we have been working on for the past few months. After a great first half of the intrasquad, we were able to have some fun at our annual Halloween lift. Twin emojis, Thing 1 and Thing 2, some 80's workout girls, and mice were just a few costumes that showed up this year. And of course, we only listened to Halloween music to keep the theme festive.
We ended our week on Friday with the second half of our intrasquad. We competed on vault and beam. This was the first time the Terps flipped their vaults on competition style mats, and with no surprise everyone stepped up to the plate. Vaults were sky high with some beautiful landings. Beam was our final event of the day. We had so many beam routines to showcase, that we had to break into two groups! Everyone looked calm and confident up on the beam. The Terps did not let the pressure phase them, and seemed to disregard the jitters.
As we finished out the week, we were able to look back and reflect on how our first intrasquad of the year went. Being a senior this year, I have never felt more confident nor ready for season and it's only November! As we venture into the B1G, Terps will most definitely be able to hold their own. The hard work, talent, and heart this team has is enough to make a name for ourselves, so keep your eyes and ears open to see it.
That's all for now! The GymTerps have their game faces on, and we can't wait to show you what's in store for this year! Go Terps!
