Terps Earn No. 2 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland field hockey team earned the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Tournament Sunday, after posting an overall record of 18-3 and winning the Big Ten regular season championship.

The Terrapins will host either Princeton (7-10) or Monmouth (13-7) in the NCAA First Round Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Princeton and Monmouth will compete in a play-in game Wednesday at Monmouth.

Wake Forest (14-6) and Albany (18-2) will also come to College Park this weekend. Those two teams will meet in the NCAA First Round Saturday at 2 p.m. The winners of Saturday's First Round games will play in an NCAA Quarterfinal match Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

This marks Maryland's 27th NCAA Tourmament appearance and 20th straight, starting in 1995.The Terrapins have started the NCAA Tourmament at home at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in 10 of the last 11 years, dating back to 2003. The Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex has been home to 22 of Maryland's NCAA Tourmament games over the years and the Terps are 21-1 in those games.

The Terrapins will look to advance to their seventh straight NCAA Final Four and 17th under head coach Missy Meharg. Maryland will be hosting the NCAA Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 21 at 2 and 4:45 p.m., as well as the NCAA Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 23.
