COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After earning the program's 11th NCAA Championship in 2014, nine members of the Maryland women's lacrosse team were named Inside Lacrosse preseason All-Americans.
Reigning Tewaaraton winner Taylor Cummings highlights five Terrapins on the preseason first team. Brooke Griffin, Kelly McPartland, Megan Douty and Alice Mercer join Cummings on the first team.
Erin Collins, Zoe Stukenberg, Shanna Brady and Casey Pepperman each earned spots on the All-American honorable mention list.
The Terps lead the conference on the Inside Lacrosse list, with nine of 18 players from the Big Ten coming from Maryland.
In the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Top 20 rankings, the Terps were selected as the No. 1 team.
The Terps' 23 wins in 2014 tied a program record. Maryland returns 11 of 12 starters from last season, when the Terps tied a program record with 23 wins en route to the 2014 national championship. The team begins the 2015 campaign Feb. 15 at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Maryland will compete in the Big Ten this season, the inaugural year for lacrosse in the conference.
