Craddock Takes Part in Groza Award Events

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Maryland kicker Brad Craddock spent Monday with fellow Lou Groza Award finalists Robert Aguayo of Florida State and Josh Lambert of West Virginia volunteering their time in South Florida.

The group began their day by meeting patients and handing out gifts at the Children's Hospital at St. Mary's Medical Center. Following the hospital visit, the group took part in a kicking clinic at Cardinal Newman High School for aspiring middle and high school kickers.

At the clinic, Craddock worked with the young kickers on everything from proper mechanics on field goals to best techniques for holders. The event ended with the young kickers competing in a kick-off from 50-yards.

Craddock has enjoyed a record-setting season in 2014 in which he was named the Bakken-Andersen Kicker of the Year in the Big Ten. The junior has successfully converted a Maryland single-season record 94.7 percent of his field goal attempts (18 for 19), which also leads the FBS. Of his 18 field goals, 11 have come from 40-plus yards including a program record 57-yard field against Ohio State (Oct. 4).

Craddock will be honored Tuesday evening at the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Banquet in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The Lou Groza Award will be announced Thursday evening at the Home Depot College Football Awards, which can be seen starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
