
Maryland Hosts Rutgers In First-Ever B1G Game On Campus

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team (2-2-1) has the distinction of hosting the first-ever Big Ten contest on the University of Maryland campus when it faces fellow conference newcomer Rutgers (4-0-0) on Friday, Sept. 12. The Terps and Scarlet Knights are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
• The match vs. the Scarlet Knights will be the first Maryland event fully-produced for the BTN2Go app, which is the official app of the Big Ten Network. The Maryland-Rutgers match will be a BTN Plus production and will require an additional subscription. Fans can access all Big Ten content on BTN Plus for $119.95 per year or a $14.95 monthly subscription. A Maryland School Pass for BTN Plus, which includes all Terrapin contests, home and away, on BTN Plus for $79.95 per year or for a $9.95 monthly subscription.
• Maryland returns home where it had a successful two-game homestand that saw the Terrapins defeat William & Mary, 4-0, in the team's 2014 home opener, on Aug. 28 and NC State, 2-1, on Aug. 31.
Alex Doody scored twice in the 4-0 win over the Tribe, as Erika Nelson and Alex Anthony, who also had an assist, also scored.
Shannon Collins assisted on both goals in the 2-1 win over former ACC foe NC State. Shade Pratt scored her first goal since 2011 to give Maryland a 1-0 lead in the first half. After the Wolfpack tied the score early in the second half, Collins delivered a perfect corner kick into the six-yard box where Sarah Molina got on the end of it with a header into the net.
• The Terps last played on Monday, Sept. 8 when it had to settle for a 1-1 tie at Navy despite dominating the match from the opening minutes. Navy got on the board first on just its second shot of the match in the 34th minute, but Maryland answered back before the end of the first half with the equalizer from Riley Barger in the 43rd minute.
Maryland pride game
• Each Maryland team that has at least one home contest during its competitive season hosts one game designated as its Maryland Pride Game. All Terp fans and Maryland student-athletes are encouraged to attend all Maryland Pride contests while wearing red, white, black and gold!
• The Rutgers game is not only the first Big Ten home game for a Maryland team, it is also the women's soccer team's Maryland Pride Game. The first 100 Maryland students with a valid University of Maryland student ID will receive a Maryland Flag Bandana.

Parking Information
• General Information: After 4 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends, there is no charge for parking in Lots Z1 or 1b or in Regents Drive Garage. Lots R2 and R3 are limited to vehicles displaying current valid permits for the respective lots at all times. The Stadium Drive Garage is closed on weekends.
• With the Maryland hosting West Virginia in football on Saturday, Sept. 13, vehicles are not allowed to park overnight in Lot Z and Lot 1. Vehicles left overnight will be towed at the owners expense.

• In addition to special pregame ceremonies celebrating the first-ever Big Ten home contest for any Maryland sport, the Mighty Sound of Maryland will be performing at the game. Be sure to follow the Mighty Sound of Maryland on Twitter.

Scouting the Scarlet Knights
• Rutgers finished its non-conference slate with a perfect 4-0-0 mark. The Scarlet Knights won their 2014 opener over Stony Brook, 3-1, and have won its last three matches via shutout. Rutgers defeated Vanderbilt, 3-0, on Aug. 24 and Seton Hall, 1-0, on Aug. 29. In their first road match of the season, the Scarlet Knights topped Princeton 5-0 on Sept. 5.
• Senior forward Amy Pietrangelo leads the team with seven points on three goals and an assist. Senior forward Stefanie Scholz also has three goals this season. Freshman Casey Murphy has taken over the starting goalkeeper spot and has a 0.25 goals-against average so far in 2014.
• Head Coach Mike O'Neil is in his first season as the head coach at Rutgers and has a 7-0-0 (1.000) record, with three wins being credited to him while he was associate head coach.

131 And Counting at Ludwig Field
• The Terps won their 100th match at Ludwig Field with a 6-0 victory over Iona on Aug. 20, 2010. Since its opening in 1995, Ludwig Field has proved to be a tremendous home-field advantage for the Terps women's soccer team. All-time Maryland is 131-53-21 (.690) at Ludwig Field.Non-Conference Success
• Dating back to its 10-0 win over Mount St. Mary's in 2008, Maryland has lost only six times in its last 49 matches vs. non-conference opponents. The Terps have outscored its non-conference opposition 130-31 in those 49 matches.
• The Terps recorded 20 straight wins over non-conference foes before tying Georgetown, 1-1, in second round of the NCAA tournament in 2010. Maryland is now 36-8-5 (.786) in its last 49 non-conference games. The Terps had been unbeaten in 31-straight non-conference games prior to losing, 1-0, at Oklahoma State in the Sweet 16 of the 2011 NCAA tournament.
Collins Climbs Assists Chart
• With her two assists in the Terps' 2-1 win over NC State on Aug. 31, junior Shannon Collins moved into the top 25 in career assists at Maryland. Her 11 assists tie her for 22nd on the all-time list with six other Terp alums.
Terps In Overtime
• Maryland has played in 99 overtime games in its 28-year history. The Terps' all-time record in those overtime games is 29-26-44 (.515).
• This season, Maryland is 0-0-1 in overtime with the lone result being a 1-1 draw at Navy on Sept. 8. In 2013, the Terps were 1-1-0 in overtime games, winning 2-1 at Clemson on Sept. 12 and falling to Boston College, 1-0, on Oct. 27.
Maryland In Ludwig Field Openers
• Ludwig Field opened in 1995 and Maryland has enjoyed remarkable success at the venue (see below). But even that success pales in comparison to how the Terps have fared in home openers at Ludwig Field.
• Since 1995, Maryland is an astounding 15-2-3 (.825) in home openers at Ludwig Field. All-time, including the first eight seasons when the Terps played at Denton Field, Maryland is 18-7-3 (.696) in home openers.
• Maryland is 7-0-0 in home openers since 2008 and has outscored its opposition 32-0 in those six matches. Prior to that the Terps were 0-0-3 from 2005-07 with 0-0 double-OT ties against Towson in 2005 and 2006 and Eastern Kentucky in 2007.
• The only two losses the Terps have sustained in home openers at Ludwig Field came in 2003 (a 3-0 loss to No. 13 Penn State) and 2004 (a 2-0 loss to Virginia Tech).
Maryland Picked Third In Preseason Big Ten Poll
• Maryland was picked to finish third in the Big Ten when the conference released its annual preseason coaches' poll on Aug. 13. Penn State, which has won the last 15 of the last 16 Big Ten titles, was picked to finish first, followed by Wisconsin and the Terrapins. Nebraska, the defending Big Ten champion, and Michigan, which advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2013 NCAA tournament, round out the top five.
