
Terps Make First B1G Road Trip Playing At Iowa & Nebraska

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team (3-3-2/1-1-1) makes its first Big Ten road trip this week with away matches at Iowa (8-1-0/3-0-0) and Nebraska (4-4-1/0-2-1). The Terps face the league-leading Hawkeyes on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the IU Soccer Complex. Maryland then finishes with a 2 p.m. match vs. the Cornhuskers at the Nebraska Soccer Field on Sunday, Sept. 28.
• Both matches will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network. The matches will also be streamed on BTN2Go.com and the BTN2Go app, which is the official app of the Big Ten Network. Fans will need a valid cable/satellite account, which includes a package including BTN, to log in to BTN2Go to watch the live stream.
• Maryland is 3-1-2 in its past six matches, including a 2-0 shutout of No. 25 Rutgers in its first-ever Big Ten competition on Sept. 12. After dropping a 1-0 decision to Michigan on Sept. 19, the Terrapins battled Michigan State to a 0-0 draw.
Juniors Alex Doody and Shannon Collins share the team lead with four points. Doody has hers on a team-best two goals, while Collins' four points have come via a team-best four assists. Overall, eight different Terps have scored goals in 2014. Junior Rachelle Beanlands has started all eight games in goal and has a 0.83 goals-against average with three shutouts.

Scouting the hawkeyes
• Iowa leads the Big Ten with an 8-1-0 overall record and a 3-0-0 mark in conference play. The Hawkeyes will have had five days between matches before playing the Terrapins, having last taken the field on Sept. 20 in a 1-0 win at Minnesota.
• Senior forward Cloe Lacasse leads the offense with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Sophomore forward Bri Toelle also has four assists to go along with three goals for 10 points. Senior Kiley Beck and junior Hannah Clark have split time in net this season with Beck making five starts and Clark starting four matches. Both keepers have combined for a 0.44 goals-against average.
• Head Coach Dave Dinanni is in his first season as the head coach at Iowa, but was a head coach at Grand Valley State for 11 years prior. Overall, he has a 229-19-18 (.895) record as a head coach.
Scouting the cornHuskers
• Nebraska is 4-4-1 overall this season and is 0-2-1 so far in conference play. The Cornhuskers host Rutgers on Thursday, Sept. 25 before playing the Terrapins on Sunday.
• Sophomore forward Jaycie Johnson leads the offense with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder Caroline Flynn leads the Huskers with three assists to go along with two goals for seven points. Sophomore Kelly Schatz has started all nine games for Nebraska in goal and has posted a 1.46 goals-against average with a pair of shutouts.
• Head Coach John Walker is in his 21st season as the head coach at Nebraska and has compiled a 286-128-26 (.680) record.

132 And Counting at Ludwig Field
• The Terps won their 100th match at Ludwig Field with a 6-0 victory over Iona on Aug. 20, 2010. Since its opening in 1995, Ludwig Field has proved to be a tremendous home-field advantage for the Terps women's soccer team. All-time Maryland is 132-54-22 (.688) at Ludwig Field.Non-Conference Success
• Dating back to its 10-0 win over Mount St. Mary's in 2008, Maryland has lost only six times in its last 49 matches vs. non-conference opponents. The Terps have outscored its non-conference opposition 130-31 in those 49 matches.
• The Terps recorded 20 straight wins over non-conference foes before tying Georgetown, 1-1, in second round of the NCAA tournament in 2010. Maryland is now 36-8-5 (.786) in its last 49 non-conference games. The Terps had been unbeaten in 31-straight non-conference games prior to losing, 1-0, at Oklahoma State in the Sweet 16 of the 2011 NCAA tournament.
Collins Climbs Assists Chart
• With her assist in the Terps' 2-0 win over Rutgers on Sept. 12, junior Shannon Collins moved into the top 20 in career assists at Maryland. Her 12 assists tie her for 19th on the all-time list with three other Terp alums.
Terps In Overtime
• Maryland has played in 100 overtime games in its 28-year history. The Terps' all-time record in those overtime games is 29-26-45 (.515).
• This season, Maryland is 0-0-2 in overtime with the a 1-1 draw at Navy on Sept. 8 and a 0-0 tie vs. Michigan State on Sept. 21. In 2013, the Terps were 1-1-0 in overtime games, winning 2-1 at Clemson on Sept. 12 and falling to Boston College, 1-0, on Oct. 27.
Maryland In Ludwig Field Openers
• Ludwig Field opened in 1995 and Maryland has enjoyed remarkable success at the venue (see below). But even that success pales in comparison to how the Terps have fared in home openers at Ludwig Field.
• Since 1995, Maryland is an astounding 15-2-3 (.825) in home openers at Ludwig Field. All-time, including the first eight seasons when the Terps played at Denton Field, Maryland is 18-7-3 (.696) in home openers.
• Maryland is 7-0-0 in home openers since 2008 and has outscored its opposition 32-0 in those six matches. Prior to that the Terps were 0-0-3 from 2005-07 with 0-0 double-OT ties against Towson in 2005 and 2006 and Eastern Kentucky in 2007.
• The only two losses the Terps have sustained in home openers at Ludwig Field came in 2003 (a 3-0 loss to No. 13 Penn State) and 2004 (a 2-0 loss to Virginia Tech).
Maryland Picked Third In Preseason Big Ten Poll
• Maryland was picked to finish third in the Big Ten when the conference released its annual preseason coaches' poll on Aug. 13. Penn State, which has won the last 15 of the last 16 Big Ten titles, was picked to finish first, followed by Wisconsin and the Terrapins. Nebraska, the defending Big Ten champion, and Michigan, which advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2013 NCAA tournament, round out the top five.
