COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The defending National Champion Maryland women's lacrosse team traded their sticks for clubs and welcomed past players and supporters for the 11th annual Women's Lacrosse Golf Classic.
The event provided alumni and fans the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful day on the golf course, celebrate the defending national champions and even have the opportunity to win a new car – only upon scoring a hole-in-one on the fourth hole.
Head coach Cathy Reese expressed her appreciation and thanked her supporters for participating in the annual tournament prior to tee-time.
“We appreciate all of the support for our program and our student-athletes,” Reese said. “We hope to make it a great day for everyone and have fun.”
One hundred and twenty participants, for a total of 30 foursomes, played in the event, which is held to benefit the women's lacrosse program. The day included an afternoon round of golf, a dinner and a silent auction.
The women's lacrosse team acknowledged their sponsors for the classic, who included United Bank, Hargrove and Hagerstown Ford.
