Box Score

ANN ARBOR, Mich.  –  The fourth-ranked Maryland field hockey team picked up its first conference victory with a 2-0 win at No. 14 Michigan Friday at Phyllis Ocker Field in Ann Arbor.

Maryland (6-2, 1-1 B1G) got on the board first with a score by senior Steffi Schneid with just over eight minutes left in the first half. Schneid corralled a rebound off a saved shot on a penalty corner and scored. The Terps took a 1-0 lead on the Wolverines (6-3, 1-1) into halftime.

The Terrapins made it a two-goal lead in the 60th minute when senior captain Maxine Fluharty scored off a similar play – a rebound on a penalty corner.

Maryland took 13 shots to the Wolverines' five, including 10 in the second half alone. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Brooke Cabrera made five saves on the day and three were in the second half to preserve the Terps' third shutout of the year.
