Vongphoumy Paces Terps Thru One Round at Cougar

Terps Begin Play at the Forest Oaks Fall Classic

Greensboro, N.C. - The Maryland women's golf team will play in its second tournament of the 2014 fall season when it heads to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for the Forest Oaks Fall Classic beginning Monday.

The 18-team field includes host-school UNCG, Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Cincinnati, Elon, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Jacksonville, James Madison, Longwood, Mercer, North Florida, Presbyterian, Radford, Rollins, UNCW and Winthrop. 

Tee time is scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday for the first round and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the second round on Tuesday. Teams will play 36 holes during the first round and 18 in the second. Forest Oaks Country Club is a Par 72, 6,267-yard course. 

Maryland's lineup will be Juliet Vongphoumy, Heidi Baek, Alexandra Papell, Kavita Sehmi and Jessica Gregory.

The Terps are coming off a 20th place performance at the Cougar Classic.

Vongphoumy led Maryland by placing 26th overall with a three round score of 218.

Papell followed Vongphoumy with a score of 226 and finished tied for 59th. In her first collegiate tournament, Sehmi finished tied for 87th with a score of 231.

Following the Forest Oaks Fall Classic, the Terrapins will travel to State College, Pa. for the Nittany Lion Women's Invitational starting Friday Oct. 3.
