The Athletic Academic Counselor in the Academic Support and Career Development Unit (ASCDU) is responsible for assisting student-athletes in meeting their academic objectives culminating in the earning of a university degree. This individual will serve as the primary contact and athletic academic counselor responsible for overseeing the implementation of academic plans while monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes for assigned Olympic sport programs. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: participating in the recruitment, orientation, pre-registration, and enrollment of student-athletes; acting as a liaison to faculty, administrators, and coaches regarding student-athlete academic matters; tracking and monitoring academic progress; and performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree required, ideally in Counseling, Student Personnel, Education or related field. At least 1-2 years of experience in post-secondary educational institutions, preferably in athletic academic services. Must have a working knowledge of NCAA academic rules and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills are needed. Must be computer literate. Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends as assigned. Master's degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Education or related field. Working understanding of Big Ten and NCAA continuing eligibility rules and regulations.
