COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior Anna Dessoye of the sixth-ranked Maryland field hockey team (15-3, 7-0 B1G) was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and fourth in her career.
Dessoye led Maryland with a game-winning goal and three assists in the Terps' two wins this weekend.
She scored the gamewinner over Indiana in the eighth minute of overtime. After 70 scoreless minutes in regulation time, the Terrapins and the Hoosiers went to 7 vs. 7 overtime. Dessoye tipped in the winning shot to give the Terps their 12th straight win.
In Sunday's 6-0 rout of Towson, Dessoye dished three assists, which put her over the 50-career assist mark. She is just the sixth Terrapin in history to reach 50 career assists.
The Terrapins beat Towson, 6-0, on Senior Day Sunday to win their 13th straight game. With the shutout victory, the Terrapins have won a school-record five straight shutouts.
Maryland won its second straight Big Ten title Friday night with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Indiana at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. With the win, Maryland clinched at least a share of the Big Ten's top spot.
The Terps can win the Big Ten title outright with a win next Saturday at Iowa (9-8, 2-5). Maryland has now won 21 conference titles between their time in the Big Ten and ACC.
Next, the Terrapins will play the Hawkeyes in Iowa City Saturday at 1 p.m. ET in both team's regular season finale. The Terps-Hawkeyes game will not be streamed online, but live stats will be available.
