COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Seniors Anna Dessoye and Sarah Sprink of the sixth-ranked Maryland field hockey team (15-3, 7-0 B1G) were named to the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game, which will be played Saturday, Nov. 21 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Dessoye and Sprink are two of the nation's top 38 seniors who are invited to play. The annual Division I Senior Game is played the Saturday of Final Four weekend at the site of the national championship.
Dessoye, and teammate Welma Luus, leads the Terrapins with 28 points this season. She has a team-high 14 assists and seven goals this year. She scored the gamewinner over Indiana in the eighth minute of overtime. On Sunday, she became just the sixth Terrapin in history to reach 50 career assists.
Sprink, last year's Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, is third on the team in points with 24 off of nine goals and six assists. As a captain and leader on defense, Sprink has helped lead the Terrapins to a school-record five straight shutouts.
Maryland won its second straight Big Ten title Friday night with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Indiana at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. With the win, Maryland clinched at least a share of the Big Ten's top spot.
The Terps can win the Big Ten title outright with a win Saturday at Iowa (9-8, 2-5). Maryland has now won 21 conference titles between their time in the Big Ten and ACC.
Next, the Terrapins will play the Hawkeyes in Iowa City Saturday at 1 p.m. ET in both team's regular season finale. The Terps-Hawkeyes game will not be streamed online, but live stats will be available.
